Will you Die with these Regrets?

Bronnie Ware is an Australian nurse who spent several years caring for patients in the last 12 weeks of their lives. She recorded their dying epiphanies in a blog called Inspiration and Chai (http://www.inspirationandchai.com/Regrets-of-the-Dying.html), which gathered so much attention that she put her observations into a book called The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.
Below are excerpts from her original blog post.
Ware writes, “For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives. …when questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again…”

Those that are familiar with my articles will know that beliefs and conditioning are at the root of what holds us back from experiencing the best of what life has to offer.

I’ve added in an explanation what beliefs may drive our behaviors that lead many of us to have these regrets.

Unworthiness: The Root of Disempowerment

Like a necklace of lead, conspiring to keep us weighted, shackled and tethered, feelings of unworthiness are the root of the darkness in our life. I now believe that unworthiness is at the core of most everything negative in both our careers and life! Having worked with people from across North America, from all walks of life, young and old, unworthiness keeps showing up in session after session I conduct.

Installed in us at such a young age, buried deep; we only see the surface behaviors in our day to day life.

I have to admit I had to ‘stare into the mouth of the lion’ when beliefs of my own unworthiness bubbled to the surface. I am happy to report I survived!

As I analyzed unworthiness, I noticed this disempowering belief was manifesting its self in behaviors found in 9 personality types. As you read these nine, think of all the time and energy each of these behaviors steal from our productivity and from our enjoyment of your life! Continue reading

You may look at confidence as existing on a spectrum, ranging from a sense of victimization to a sense that you can handle whatever life throws at you. Some people are almost totally lacking in confidence and some feel confident that they can handle almost anything; most people are in-between.
